From jet boating through the Shotover River canyons to conquering the iconic Nevis Bungee, athletes got a taste of the adventure capital of the world before competition began at Cardrona
Ahead of the inaugural World Challenge last week, The Snow League welcomed its 16 invited athletes to Queenstown for three action-packed days of adventure, giving competitors the chance to experience some of New Zealand’s most iconic landscapes and adrenaline-fueled activities before turning their focus to the halfpipe.
The pre-event activities and day trips were designed to showcase the region’s world-famous scenery and adventure tourism while allowing athletes to relax, connect with their teammates, and create lasting memories together before the intensity of competition began.
The adventure began on the legendary Shotover River, where athletes climbed aboard high-powered jet boats for an exhilarating ride through the narrow canyons, carving around dramatic rock formations at breathtaking speeds.

The following day, the athletes took to the skies on a spectacular helicopter tour across the Remarkables and Coronet Peak mountain ranges. Flying above snow-capped peaks, alpine lakes, and rugged backcountry terrain, they experienced panoramic views of the Queenstown region before touching down at remote alpine locations to take in the scenery.
For those looking to push their limits even further, the itinerary included the iconic Nevis Bungee – the highest bungee jump in New Zealand and second highest in the world at 440 feet.
The final day delivered another dose of excitement at Oxbow Adventures, where the group tried their hand at Jet Sprint Boating and Ultimate Off-Roading. From navigating purpose-built water circuits at incredible speeds to tackling rugged terrain in off-road vehicles, the day was filled with laughter, friendly competition, and plenty of adrenaline.
Beyond the adventures, athletes from around the world had the opportunity to build new and strengthen existing friendships, immerse themselves in New Zealand’s unique environment, and enjoy a memorable start to their World Challenge experience.
