Gus Kenworthy has been a defining force in freeskiing for more than a decade, pushing the sport forward both competitively and culturally. The British-American skier made an immediate impact at Event Two in China in his return to competition following a hiatus after Beijing 2022, landing on the podium in third place and proving his continued dominance in the sport.
Kenworthy is among the most versatile freeskiers in history, stacking podiums in slopestyle, halfpipe, and big air. A three-time Olympian, he won slopestyle silver at Sochi 2014 before shifting his focus to halfpipe, finishing eighth at Beijing 2022. Kenworthy has X Games silver and bronze in halfpipe, plus a trio of slopestyle and big air medals.
Beyond results, Kenworthy is recognized as a trailblazer for representation in action sports—becoming the first openly gay professional athlete, and inspiring a new generation by being unapologetically himself on and off the snow. In 2022, he launched a nonprofit, The Worthy Foundation, dedicated to supporting the LGBTQ+ community. His activism runs deep: in both 2019 and 2025, he rode the 545-mile AIDS/LifeCycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles, raising over a quarter of a million dollars, and he continues to champion causes through work with The Trevor Project, Happy Hippie Foundation, GLSEN, and The Humane Society International.
