The Race to the Cut Line: Season One Comes Down to LAAX

With The Snow League World Champions set to be crowned in both snowboarding and freeskiing, the stakes couldn’t be higher as an unparalleled first season reaches its conclusion.

The final event of the inaugural season of The Snow League takes place March 19–21 at LAAX, Switzerland—an iconic stage for the fourth and decisive event of the year. When the world’s top halfpipe snowboarders and freeskiers drop in, they won’t just be competing for prize money and the final World Championship points, they’ll be fighting for their future.

With The Snow League World Champions set to be crowned in both snowboarding and freeskiing, the stakes couldn’t be higher as an unparalleled first season reaches its conclusion.

At the end of Event Four, the top eight snowboard and top four freeski athletes in the Snow League World Championship standings will automatically qualify for all Season Two events. Everyone else will be left chasing their way back into the field.

Cut Line Explained

Athletes Above the Cut Line Heading into LAAX

Snowboarders ranked first through eighth enter LAAX above the cut line, meaning they currently hold guaranteed qualification positions, same with the top four freeskiers. But nothing is locked until finals are complete. One mistake could shift the standings, and the pressure is especially intense for those hovering near the bottom of the qualified group.

Athletes On the Bubble

The athletes sitting in eighth place for snowboard field and fourth in freeski field enter the event on the bubble, technically above the cut line, but with no room for error. The athletes just behind them, sit below the cut line, watching every run and calculating every possible point swing.

Implications for The Snow League Season Two

With League championship points on the line and a head-to-head bracket format that rewards both progression and consistency, Event Four at LAAX promises drama from the very first run. A single victory could launch an athlete safely above the cut line. A misstep could see them bumped from the field.

Season One ends in LAAX. For some, it will mean locking in their place for Season Two. For others it will mean watching the door close, at least for now.

About The Snow League

Launched in June 2024, The Snow League is the first professional winter sports league dedicated to snowboarding and freeskiing. Founded by three-time Olympic gold medalist and entrepreneur Shaun White, Season One features a four-event global format boasting a $2.2 million season purse, with athletes competing to earn points to determine the overall champions. The season kicked off at Buttermilk in Aspen Snowmass (March 7–8, 2025), then headed to Yunding Snow Park, China (Dec. 4–6, 2025), where 16 of the world’s top freeskiers joined the roster at the 2022 Beijing Winter Games venue. The League returned to Aspen (Feb. 27–28, 2026) and concludes at LAAX, Switzerland (March 19–21, 2026), where the first-ever Snow League World Champions will be crowned.
